A high school senior from Citrus Heights, California, remains hospitalized in critical condition after being stabbed ten times during a fight that occurred on January 19, 2026, in Roseville.
The teenager, identified as Emmanuel “Manny” Sánchez, suffered severe internal organ injuries and nerve damage that affected the function of his hand.
He is currently stable in the neurological trauma intensive care unit, but doctors have warned that his recovery will be long and complex.
His family has launched a campaign on GoFundMe to help cover medical expenses and allow them to remain by his side throughout the healing process.
What Happened in the Roseville Parking Garage
The stabbing occurred on the top level of the Oak Street parking garage in Roseville, where a fight involving 10 to 15 people was reported.
According to Sergeant Nicholas Gaines of the Roseville Police Department, officers were dispatched to respond to a disturbance when they received information that someone had been stabbed.
“Officers were sent to respond to an altercation on the top floor of the Oak Street parking garage involving a fight between 10 and 15 people,” Gaines explained.

While officers were en route, it was confirmed that one of those involved had sustained stab wounds.
Roseville emergency responders immediately transported the stabbed student to the hospital, where he continues to receive specialized treatment.
Police arrested Levi Cole, 24, on charges of attempted murder.
Cole also suffered injuries and was treated medically before being booked into jail.
Investigators have not yet determined why the group was gathered at the parking garage.
Manny’s family maintains that he attended a “car meet,” an event where people show off vehicles and listen to music.
The Roseville Police Department stated it could not confirm those details with KCRA 3.
Emmanuel Sánchez Is in Critical Condition and Faces Multiple Surgeries

Karen Higuera, Emmanuel’s cousin, described the teen as “a kind and thoughtful young man.”
According to Higuera, Manny has undergone five surgeries since the attack.
Doctors are working to save his left arm and have indicated that his spleen may need to be removed.
“They believe he could lose mobility in his arm,” Higuera said.
“Right now, they don’t really know; they’re doing everything they can to save his arm,” she added.
The severity of the injuries was such that, according to his family, the teenager was at risk of bleeding out.
“He could have bled to death,” Higuera said, referring to the magnitude of the attack.
Doctors have indicated that Manny could take years to fully recover.
They also anticipate that he will need additional surgeries and intensive rehabilitation.
The family reported that he will not be able to return home for at least six months.
Family’s Appeal and Uncertainty About Emmanuel Sánchez’s Future

Emmanuel’s family said they are devastated by what happened.
“We’re all heartbroken—Manny is the baby of the family,” Higuera said.
Before the attack, the young man hoped to graduate from high school and enlist in the military.
Now, his relatives fear he may not be able to graduate this year due to his medical condition.
On the GoFundMe page, the family explained that Emmanuel Sánchez suffered extensive internal organ damage and nerve injury, causing him to lose function in his hand.
The message notes that although he is currently stable, his recovery will be long and difficult, both physically and emotionally.
They also describe him as a student who “lights up every classroom with his humor and dedication.”
The fundraiser aims to ease the financial burden so money does not become an obstacle during his recovery.
The funds will allow family members to take time off work and focus on supporting him at every stage of the process.
The family expressed gratitude for the love, prayers, and community support during what they described as an unimaginable time.
“Any help is welcome and means so much to our family,” the message concludes, thanking those who are supporting Manny on his path to healing.
